Constitution & Bylaws
Official governing documents of the National Toy Fox Terrier Association.
The following Constitution and Bylaws govern the structure, operations, and membership of the National Toy Fox Terrier Association. These documents outline the standards, responsibilities, and procedures that guide the organization.
Article I - Name and Purpose
Section 1. Name
The name of the association shall be the National Toy Fox Terrier Association (NTFTA).
Section 2. Purpose
The objectives of the Association shall be:
- To encourage and promote quality in the breeding of purebred Toy Fox Terriers and to do all possible to bring their natural qualities to perfection.
- To urge members and breeders to accept the standard of the breed as approved by the United Kennel Club (UKC) as the only standard of excellence by which Toy Fox Terriers shall be judged.
- To do all in its power to protect and advance the interests of the breed by encouraging sportsmanlike competition at dog shows, obedience trials, and performance events.
- To conduct sanctioned and licensed specialty shows and trials under the rules of the UKC.
Article II - Membership
Section 1. Eligibility
Membership shall be open to all persons who are in good standing with the United Kennel Club and who subscribe to the purposes of this Association.
Section 2. Dues
Membership dues shall be established by the Board of Directors. Dues are payable on or before the first day of each fiscal year.
Article III - Officers
Section 1. Officers
The Association's officers, consisting of the President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer, shall serve in their respective capacities both with regard to the Association and its meetings and the Board and its meetings.
Article IV - Board of Directors
Section 1. Board of Directors
General management of the Association's affairs shall be entrusted to the Board of Directors. The Board shall be comprised of the officers and additional directors elected from the general membership.
Article V - Meetings
Section 1. Annual Meeting
The annual meeting of the Association shall be held in conjunction with the Association's National Specialty Show, at a place, date, and hour designated by the Board of Directors.
Article VI - Elections
Section 1. Annual Election
The election of Officers and Directors shall be conducted by secret ballot. The nominated candidates receiving the greatest number of votes for each office shall be declared elected.
Article VII - Committees
Section 1. Appointment
The Board may each year appoint standing committees to advance the work of the Association in such matters as dog shows, obedience trials, trophies, annual prizes, membership, and other fields.
Article VIII - Amendments
Section 1. Proposing Amendments
Amendments to the constitution and bylaws may be proposed by the Board of Directors or by written petition addressed to the Secretary signed by twenty percent of the membership in good standing.
These documents were approved by the NTFTA Board and are subject to updates as determined by the organization.
